A new journal page

Well, I didn't get too far on the fabric journal. I lost steam after I made the cover I'll get back to it though.

In the meantime, I made this illo for a new publication that's coming out, probably in the later part of the year. Fishes are showing up in my paintings,,,,, and big lips...... hmmmmm, what's that about?

A new project

I am hoping to make some fabric artist journals soon. I made the fabric transfers of my art last night. See my sewing machine, its an oldie but I love it. It does all the simple things I need it to do. I just took it in for a tune up. I took it to Joanne's Fabrics, as they had the best price. I'll post more photos as I complete my project.

Have a creative day!

Women in the Mix Art Show

Here are some of my paintings for the "Women in the Mix" art show. The reception was last night and it was a lot of fun. The displays were wonderful! It was so nice to be with other artists and share the night with such talented artists. These are available for sale. The larger one 20 x 24 is $220.00, Costume is $210.00, and "Conversation" is $100.00. If they don't sell at the show they will be availble in my etsy shop in May.
Thank you all for coming!

New Painting

This piece is quite large for me. It measures 16 x 20 x 1.5. I'm stretching myself to create larger pieces. This one is going into a show which I'll give more details later. I have been asked to do larger pieces. Now I need an easel. I just finished a 20 x 24 and it was hard to manage it on my studio table.
This is created with acrylic paints on muslin fabric background for texture. Click large to get a better view.

Garden IF

This is my entry for the theme "Garden" for Illustration Friday. I decided to create this piece in my art journal. The flowers have a touch of glitter but I don't think my scanner picked it up for you to see.

Tomorrow Will Be a Better Day

I had a strange day today when things didn't go quite right. My debit card wouldn't work, so I couldn't get any money, the escalators didn't work at Third Place books, and last but not least, the cable for TV didn't work this morning. All of these circumstances happened within hours of each other. These circumstances are of course, all small potatoes in the scheme of things. But it left me thinking, what is the universe trying to tell me?

Kim

This is my wonderful friend Kim taking photos. She is one of the best photographers that I know. She has the ability to see things I don't see through the eyes of her camera.

One of the things I admire about her work is that she has the ability to make something beautiful out of something we might just walk by. When I see this dead plant in my yard, that's what I see,,,, a dead plant. But when Kim photographs it,,,,it's magical,,,,, look at the beauty,,, the lace, the fragility of nature. And what's more wonderful is,,,,, that I GET IT!

You can see more of her work on her blog here.

Hand made artist books

I finally finished this artist book. I don't make too many of them because they are so time consuming. I'm submitting this one to "Women in the Mix" art show coming up soon. More details later....

Going Home

I wanted to paint something a little different tonite. Don't get me wrong, I love painting my girls and bunny slippers, but I needed a change. So I came up with these little doggy/bunny men,,,,, looking for their home. This measures 8.5 x 11 and is on cold press watercolor paper. (click on photo to see it large) I'm still trying to decide if I will put it in my shop.

Sunday's Flower

I spent the day today cleaning, mostly. I was just going to do a few things around the house then I got on a roll. I'm in my mood of getting rid of stuff, so it feels good to get rid of things I haven't used or will use.
I was able to make a few pieces of art today as well. This is "Sunday's Flower". She is available in my shop.
