Art in my studio

I thought you might like a glimpse into my studio. I have stuff everywhere! It makes me happy and I feel inspired when I work in my studio.

My art friend Delorse made this little sketch of my mug with paint brushes in it when she came to visit. She is a fabulous sketcher and really captures the essence of what she draws.

Artist you should know about...

Meet Marcio Diaz. I met him at the Edmonds art festival this weekend. He paints circles,,,,,, and circles,,,,,, and circles..... I was captivated by the color and the intensity of the motion of the circles. So mesmerizing, so spiritual, so unique. I a have a special affinity to circles, so Marcio's work spoke to me. He was delightful and had a translator there so I could ask him questions.

The photos don't do his work justice. Look at all those beautiful circles!

"Connect"

"Connect"

Do you ever want to connect with someone, so bad it hurts. Maybe it's a twinkle in their eye, the way they smile, the way they seem so self confidant? We take the easy way out and approach softly most of the times, and maybe never say a thing. Don't you wish you could just walk up to someone and say "Let's connect!"

This didn't sell at the gallery of Center for Spiritual Living, so I am offering it in my shop. I love this piece, how could I not?

Matchbox art

I started to make some matchbox art for a show in October. I hope we are still having it, I haven't heard officially yet. But I wanted to make some anyway. I paint them with gesso first, then add my design, and paint with acrylics. Then they are sprayed wtih a gloss archival spray. Perfect for little goodies and keepsakes, maybe a ring for a friend?

Work in progress

I'm still working on my biggest rug hooking piece. I thought you'd like to see the progress. I have to do a couple more flowers then I can fill it in with a blackish color for the background. Yeah! I want to finish it because I have a new idea for another new piece. Do you know about "Gollywogs"? (I know I spelled that incorrectly).

What I'm working on

"She left home in her bunny slippers thinking she had everything she needed then she realized all she needed was herself!"
This is my current piece that I am working on. It measures 14 x 11 on cold press watercolor archival paper. I wrote a little note to myself as she appeared reminding me of what this piece will be named after it is all finished.

I'll finish her in the morning, nighty night...

Art

Art in my studio

I'm getting ready for a small art show at the Center for Spiritual Living. This piece will go into the show. It's called "Connect" and it's a larger piece for me. It is 16 x 20 with 1.5 gallery wrapped sides.
The show's opening is June 12th and is in Seattle. It runs for about a week I think.

Please Tell Me

Do you ever think you have the answer to something, but you are just not quite sure? For validation we seek outside sources that we feel know the true answer. If we listen closely, the answer will come.

Artist garage sale

My art friend Celeste and I were vendors today in the Artist Garage Sale. It was a great day, with great weather (it didn't rain), and great people. Thanks to all my artist friends for stopping by and saying "Hi". There were lots of glass items, watercolors, paintings, misc artist supplies and much more. There were happy customers, happy children, and happy dogs.
What a great day!

Who's rug is it anyway?

I think I need a vote. Our dog Bailey thinks this is her new hand hooked rug.

And clearly "Yoda" thinks this is his rug. What do you think?

(This beautiful rug is all hand hooked by artist, Sharon Baker)

4 Rug Hooked Friendlies

I thought I would show a group photo of some of my rug hooked dolls. Red Riding hoods' sister is going to a new home on Friday! Yea! The others will be for sale at the October rug show. (if they don't sell sooner).

I thought you'd like to see the progress on the rug I am hooking.

It's going to be almost 90 degrees here in Seattle today. That's a little too hot for me!

Connect

Life is about connecting. Connecting with nature, with people we meet, connecting in all sorts of ways. We feel more whole and loved when we connect.
