Journal page

When I was thinking about creating this page I wanted to fill it up as much as possible, with words, text, color, etc. I made some changes as I went, as my art is always evolving, even as I create it. I start with a thought then just let the words flow as they come to me. I love my color palette here, and am loving the use of gouache.

Group Hug

I have been busy in my studio lately. The recurring theme of group hug keeps coming out of me. I never know what I am going to paint until I sit down and just start painting. You can see my work in progress in the first photo. The photo below is finished and is ready for sale in my shop. My new love,,,, gouache! I just love the way it spreads on the page with either watercolor or acrylic.

I have some exciting news!

I will be teaching my class "Journal Babies" at Artfest 2011!

I am so excited, and this will be my second year of teaching at this fabulous event. There will be more information when the site goes live on August 1st. Here is the link to last years Artfest.

It is a wonderful venue with fabulous teachers, and a great way to be with like minded spirits. I hope you can come. Mark your calendars!

Postcard

I created this cute, winged, bunny slipper girl in my art journal over the weekend. I think she has potential to eventually be re-invented as a post card. I like her but she came out a little light. I think she needs more work.

Postcards, Notecards

Yay, I got my order in for my postcards today. As you might guess, the little girl with the flower is one of my favorites and I use it for my blog header. These are available now for sale in my shop.

Strathmore Visual Journals

Strathmore Visual Journals have started to ship to retail stores. I am so excited and thrilled to have my art featured as part of this project! The journals are great to work in and there are all different media types. I will be previewing the mixed media journal soon as soon as I get shipment. Here is a link to the site.

I still love making my own handmade journals, but for those who prefer a pre-made one, these are just great.  The paper is nice and thick, 140lb, and will take watercolor and acrylic work nicely.  The binding is such that you can lay it flat to work on, or fold it back, to fold it in half while you work.  They come in three different sizes too.  I really love the big one and the little travel journal.  If you purchase one let me know how you like it,,,, xo.....

Strathmore journal page

Here is a start to another journal page. I have mostly completed the main background. I will be adding more color, maybe another image and text. I thought you might like to see what it looks like in the beginning stages. I live in Seattle and this time of year you can hear an owl in the far distance hooting into the night. I love thinking of how happy he/she may be sitting high atop one of the ceder trees.

Artist garage sale

The artist garage sale was so fun! It was held in Everett this year, a new location. The day was sunny and bright. Lots of people stopped by. Thank you to so many of you who stopped by to say hello! There were lots of vendors and good food. Thank you to Celeste who was kind enough to share her booth with me and to BF who helped us unload and load again. It was great to see so may of my art buddies there too. I hope they hold the garage sale in this location next year!
