I've been making art dolls!

I've been making art dolls and they are all looking for a new home! They will be in my shop Monday at 6:00 pm. The face is an original painting on muslin, and the fabrics are from baby clothes and an old flannel sheet, (washed of course!) :)

Working on a composite today

I am working on a composite today for a flyer for one of my upcoming workshops. More news about that later. I like how all the images seem to have a good representation of my work. I hope you are having a great weekend.

More art journaling

I created this little owl in my small leather artist journal. I am using a few rubber stamps to add just the right touch. The words "take note" is a rubber stamped image. I used gesso to cover up the old design.

I am using a small face as part of the design on the right for this page,,, a small element that doesn't take over the whole drawing. I like that!  I added some journaling thoughts after I completed the drawing.

I incorporated my rubber stamped image in the design of this drawing, see how her hands are part of the rubber stamped image?

I am still working in my small leather journal. (see previous posts) Adding lots of new elements, gessoing over the old, and painting new images. My favorite art supply right now is gesso!  I am really loving the way my new/old journal is turning out!  More pages are coming soon.

From my archives

This measures 8 x 10 and is on cold press watercolor paper. Created with watercolors and a Pitt Pen.  Pitt pens are great for using with paint, they don't bleed and make a nice line.  I love using watercolors because I like they way they flow, unlike acrylics.  I just love this piece that I made a couple of years ago!

Artist Journal

I have been neglecting my etsy shop to be able to create more art in my art journal. I just love creating through each page and adding more,,,until I can finish and go on to the next one. These pages are about painting face profiles. I am really not happy with the way these came out. I need to work on face profiles more. I am obsessed with images with hearts in them right now, so a lot of my art has hearts. I tend to go with a theme until I get tired of it, and think of something else.

I think these characters have a lot of personality, but they just aren't "me" yet.   They had a need to be painted though, so here they are.  That is what journaling is about for me,,,exploring, creating, and becoming better at what I do.

Yes, more journal pages!

Here are some more completed pages in my journal.  There is lots of texture  beneath and secret words hidden under the art.  I like that,,,noticeable but  not quite readable.  I like to keep things somewhat mysterious!  I am using artist grade acrylics, (I like Golden's), Pitt pens, and graphite.

Is it too early to think about Valentine's day?

Well, I think not. This is part of a sweet collage I made of a little girl holding her valentine. I think her bunny slippers look more interesting, so I thought I'd crop the image to focus on that. The image is a copy of a school girl. I don't create collages very often, but I was really in the mood to do some gluing and painting! The gold foil is from a piece of gum that my BF gave me,,,perfect,,,for my Valentine collage.

Here is the rest of her,,,,and she is available in my shop.

Start of a new week and a new year

I have had a wonderful vacation this holiday season, spending time with BF, making art, going to movies, eating out, going up to the pass for skiing (I make art while BF skis),,and generally just relaxing. Now that my vacation time is over, I want to start the new year with being really productive with my art, I thought it would be a good idea to take the ever so talented Carla Sonheim's online class, "The Art of Silliness", to help me jump start into the new year. I thought if I had a daily plan, and she provides this,,,, it would be a great way to look forward to what the new year brings. I love that she has daily worksheets, like when you were a child in grammar school, to create something new each day. (see that silly guy in my sidebar, that's the link to her class).
My New Years resolution, is to write more on my blog. I am a visual person so its difficult to write about my art,,,but I'm going to make a concentrated effort this year. Sometimes, I feel I have nothing to say, but I always have lots of art to show. So, this year,,,,,I will change that. I'm off to a good start, aren't I?
