Lily pads and a photoshoot

I went on a photo shoot tonite with a group of really fun people. We met in Juanita Park in Kirkland, WA. The park runs along side of Lake Washington. We walked out on the bridge to take various photos. Since everyone seemed to have cameras that cost more than most cars, and were taking photos of birds miles away, I concentrated on the beauty below me in the water. (With my Canon Powershot sx210). I just love the colors. The greens, bright oranges, and browns. I feel so lucky to have taken these shots,  just as I took the photos, it started to rain. Not a drizzle but bucketfuls of rain plummeting down on us.

I ran back to the car and felt so grateful, to have seen these Lily pads. I think they are magical, I can almost see the fairies living among them.

New art

"Friends"

I am making some new art and I am getting ready for opening my etsy shop again. My new work will feature watercolor illustrations. The sizes will be 8 x 10, and I am creating them on watercolor paper. I hope to have them in my shop by the end of the week. These offerings will be different than my previous acrylic work, but will still be characteristic of my "touch of whimsy". I am excited about my new direction!

This weekend

This weekend was really great. The annual artist garage sale was in Everett, and I participated as a vendor there. Luckily I had a booth inside the Schack art center and I was lucky to be out of the rain. (Yes it is still raining in Puget Sound). The glassblowers were the highlight. They were able to work as the sale was going on. I took these photos before the opening from my phone. After the sale, I worked out at my gym for an hour and a half. Coffee this morning with a sweet friend. There was a Jethro Tull concert last night at the vineyard, I really wanted to go and heard that the concert was great!

Simplicity

I usually use a lot of vibrant colors in my work. I really like the simplicity of this piece. I used minimal color, a monochromatic color scheme. I like this change. This little journal is half way finished. I work in it at night, I can bring it anywhere with me, and I don't have to be out in the studio to work on it. I am really enjoying watercolors. I mentioned before, that I find them more portable than carrying around my bottles of acrylic paint.
I hope you are having a great weekend!
