A change of pace
I meet with a rug hooking group every couple of weeks. It is so much fun to get together and hook, and talk. I somehow feel like I am part of a historic craft that women/men have done for over 100 years. Each of us have a different style, some traditional and some not. We exchange ideas about colors of wool, how to dye, where to get wool, and what our favorite tools are. We spend several hours together, sharing, and solving the problems of the world, of course!
This one is mine.
Here is one of Sharon's.
This one is Shirlee's. She prefers to hook in a quilting hoop.
...another one of Sharon's.
This one is Vickie's. Sharon designed this pattern. I'd like a pattern like this but the piece is so large, I'm afraid I'd never finish it.
And this one is Ann's. She finished it tonite.
Don't forget to click on photos to get them large to see all the wonderful details.

Fabric book, another page
....."and he met a woman with a small HAT that told a BIG lie".
Remember the cover of my book,,, Mr Pea Hat? Well, he is looking for strange people like him who wear strange hats. I finished up this page tonite in my fabric book.
People always ask me where I get my ideas from. Well,,, 99.9% of the time they just come though my head. This time was different however, I found this photo in a magazine, and just couldn't resist using my creative license. (obviously someone else used their creative license too) How could I pass this up! Perfect inspiration for my Pea Hat book!

Can you imagine my excitement when
I found this great fabric designed by Terrie Mangat for Free Spirit. I found it on Fabric.com and it was on sale too! It comes with green and red backgrounds as well. I thought the black was very cool so I purchased 2 yards of it. Oh the things I can make,,,,I'm imagining new cool cloth dolls with this fabric as skirts!

Fabric book
This is a story I am creating about Mr Pea Hat who goes on the search for other people like him who wear strange hats. I made this out of heavy duc fabric and machine stitched the pages together. I paint the pages with gesso first then paint my pages with artist grade acrylics. So far Mr Pea Hat meets a strange woman with a bird hat. I hope to add some more pages this week.

Bella, Topsy Turvey
Bella is my interpretation of a topsy turvey doll. She is made from duc fabric, gessoed with acrylics. She is approx 10 inches tall. Her sister on the other end has blond hair, while Bella has black hair. The duc fabric was a little difficult to turn, so next time I would probably use muslin. She wears a cute little skirt that can be turned depending what side you want her to be on. For now Bella keeps me company in my studio but soon she will be on her way to her new home.

Fish girl
This fish girl is a world traveler. She went to Australia for a gallery exhibit, then came home to me several months later. She measures approx 14 x 7, and is crafted with muslin, polyfil, and acrylics. I hope to get her in my shop this weekend. I am in the process of making another stuffed art doll. She is a topsy turvey doll. She is near completion and I will post her as soon as I can.
I hope you are all having a lovely spring week.
