I've been working on many projects

Here's a peek at some of the art I've created lately. Right now I am passionate about my art dolls. They are called Snippets of Soul Stories. Each one has a story. And the stories are snippets from my past. I'll be teaching a class on how I make them soon. To see more, see my facebook page at tarasartcamp. Hugs! xoxo

"Veronica"

Veronica is a sweet girl who likes chocolate chip cookies. She is made from vintage fabric from the thrift store, polyester fiberfill, and she has a hand painted original face, created by me. I use acrylic paints in all my work. She measures about 10 inches tall and she is looking for her forever home. To see more of my art dolls look for tarasartcamp over at Etsy. xoxo

"Molly" is now in my shop. I love creating faces, I never know how they are going to turn out. I like how my images come out and "speak to me". I love using lots of texture in the background. Gouache is my new favorite art supply. It spreads around easily with a bristle brush and I like the effect. You can see her in my shop

A summer day for painting

I love painting outside on my deck in the summer. It's lovely outside today. I'm painting with mostly watercolor, it's easier to take outside with me.

Willow likes to join me outside on lovely days like this.

New work for sale

I've been busy creating lovely works of art on 140lb cold press watercolor paper.  I like the option of my buyers being able to frame these the way they wish.  My first piece is title "Trust".  She is created with lots of background texture and collage elements.  I use pastels, and acrylic, and gouache around the frame of her face.  I love how each of my faces turns out different, however my style still eeps through. I love how she turned out, there is so much going on here.

Original Art

My other piece that is available today is titled "Birthday". Two friends are sharing a loving moment. It is more whimsical than the first piece I listed today. I painted this work with acrylics and pastels. It measures 9x 12, and is created on 140lb watercolor paper.

If you are ordering from my blog let me know and I will refund shipping costs. Have a great, creative day! xo

Pages from another journal

I work in several journals at the same time. I really like this journal, the size, the format, the pages etc. I hand bound it, and created the journal myself. I'm on a roll with this one so I'll be working in it the next few days.

A fantastic day with art friends

I spent a great day yesterday with my art friends Jenny Wentworth, Judy Wise and Shellie Garber. It is so great to be able to paint all day with no errands to run, meals to cook, or anything else for that matter. I always feel rejuvenated after our get togethers. So much fun. These are the latest paintings in my art journal. Happy fathers day to all my wonderful friends who are fathers!

Don't fight the flow

During my bout of creativeness I sat down to paint a much more "serious" painting. Well, that just didn't happen and this is what came out instead. I have to remind myself to not fight the flow! lol!

Some available paintings

I have been busy creating new paintings and getting ready for a gallery opening in June in Salem which I plan to be a part of. It's a new adventure and will be an "Eclectic" sort of event. Meanwhile I have these paintings available.
"Mother" 8x10 inches and on gallery wrapped canvas. I used lots of texture in the background, acrylic, pastel, charcoal, and an image copied on cotton fabric for mother in the background. It's ready to hang.

These paintings are created on canvas board and measure 5 x 7 inches. They are also available.

Has it been so long....

since I last posted?!    Time does get away from me!

I was fortunate enough to be invited to an art retreat in Port Townsend a couple of weekends ago. It was so fun to be with wonderful creative women and spend time creating art and laughing. Pure bliss. I'm back at rediscovering old journals and re-working them. I've had this one a long time, and I feel it needs an update. I love working over all my old stuff. They are ever evolving and ever changing. I'm feeling an urge thou, to create in a different medium,,,maybe fabric...we'll see.

A fun day with friends creating art

I really enjoy making art with friends. They inspire you in ways that you can't anticipate. This is a piece I created in a journal that I am re-doing. When I start a project I never really know what the end result will be. I start painting and let the magic happen. This piece has lots of collage elements peeking out.
