Artist Trading Cards
I have the NEED to make art every day. Sometimes I don't have the time I want to devote to making art, so I make small works of art, Artist Trading Cards.
"A" is for Annie, she overthinks EVERYTHING!
"B" is for Bonnie, she likes sunflowers.
"C" is for Charlotte, she likes squiggly spiders!
I hope to finish working on the alphabet. I am thinking of a fabric tie book to put them in. Or, I might just sell them as they are.

An art filled weekend
On Friday I went to a get together/bridal shower for Dawn Shepherd at Teesha's house. It was really fun. We all made our favorite artful recipe for Dawn to be later added to a binder that Teesha had made. Instead of the usual wedding shower games we got to make art! Lots of exercises to get our creative juices flowing. I'm sorry, for some reason I didn't get photos of those. We also made exquisite corpses and they turned out wonderful. Here is what Wikipedia says about them.
"Exquisite corpse (also known as "exquisite cadaver" or "rotating corpse") is a method by which a collection of words or images is collectively assembled, the result being known as the exquisite corpse or cadavre exquis in French. Each collaborator adds to a composition in sequence, either by following a rule (e.g. "The adjective noun adverb verb the adjective noun") or by being allowed to see the end of what the previous person contributed. The technique was invented by Surrealists and is similar to an old parlour game called Consequences in which players write in turn on a sheet of paper, fold it to conceal part of the writing, and then pass it to the next player for a further contribution. Surrealism principal founder André Breton reported that it started in fun, but became playful and eventually enriching. Breton said the diversion started about 1925, but Pierre Reverdy wrote that it started much earlier, at least before 1918.
In a variant now known as picture consequences, instead of sentences, portions of a person were drawn.
Later the game was adapted to drawing and collage, producing a result similar to children's books in which the pages were cut into thirds, the top third pages showing the head of a person or animal, the middle third the torso, and the bottom third the legs, with children having the ability to "mix and match" by turning pages. It has also been played by mailing a drawing or collage — in progressive stages of completion — to the players, and this variation is known as "exquisite corpse by airmail", or "mail art," depending on whether the game travels by airmail or not".
On Sunday I went to our rug hooking gathering. My rug is almost finished, I just have to finish the border, and bind it. The other amazing rug is by Katie Drake. It is huge, about 4' x 4'.
I wish all my weekends were filled with great art events!

Thinking of Home
This piece is a little different from my latest pieces. Collage elements, illustration, acrylic, Pitt pens, graphite, a little bit of journaling. I especially like working with those tissue pieces. Measures 9 x 12 on 300lb watercolor paper.

Still painting on my paint brushes
Here is another one that I have finished. You can see more in a previous post. "Painting on old, grungy, brushes I have loved, and have seen me through many paintings. My life, my love,,,, my paint brush! My paint brush has taken me on many journeys, some sad, some happy, some adventurous, exploring, taking in my emotion within the grasp of solitude".

Bill and Belinda meet for the first time
This weeks theme for Illustration Friday is "Modify".
Bill met Belinda for the first time, remembering to modify his behavior somewhat. He wanted to insure that Belinda liked him. What he didn't realize is that Belinda liked him for who he was,,,,,, his true self. He didn't need to modify his behavior at all! Stay true to yourself Bill!
