"Mary's Blue Hair"
Mary decided to color her hair one day when her mum wasn't home. She did it herself,,,, well, she had no idea it would come out blue,,,, but she liked it anyway,,, and so did her bird friend!

Some more stuffies and fall
My stuffies are a mixed blend of painted muslin and felted wool. They are stuffed with new polyfill. I painted the faces on muslin fabric after first painting a layer of gesso. I enjoy painting right on the fabric, you never quite know for sure how they will come out. The faces create themselves. "Adele" the pumpkin girl was created when I first felt the first signs of crisp air of fall. I love the fall,,,,, for me it means making more stuffies and fiber art. They are for sale here.

A master at stamp carving
When I was at the workshop retreat a couple of weekends ago with Tracy and Teesha Moore, I found Tracy busily carving away at his new rubber stamp for our "Odd Journaler's Club".
He demonstrated how to carve stamps, but I was too pre-occupied with working in my journal to make one.
He made it for everyone to use in their journals while we were there that weekend.
This is my journal page with Tracy's "Odd Journaling Club" stamp. I wish I had his talent for making stamps. Tracy makes it look so easy to do!

Journal pages
Here is the beginnings of the inside of my journal. There are 16 pages in all. I LOVE the flaps and folds. The front cover is covered with clear tape, giving it a glossy feel. I have only just begun and wanted to share it with you. I will be adding daily, and writing in my journal as I go. The size is about 8 x 10 inches. There are photocopied imges of my original work, and original paintings. Some small bits of Teesha's collage sheet are added for border texture.

Starting a new journal....
This is the cover of a new journal I am starting. I took a workshop with Tracy and Teesha over the weekend. This journal has lots of pages and flaps and I will show more later. I can see how one could work in their journal forever and never be finished. Teesha offers very cool collage sheets and it is a balance to try to "make it your own". I added only small bits of collage images. I made photocopies of some of my original art to add to my journal. I will show more later when I can take photos with my camera.

Artist you should know about
My friend Sharon Baker makes fabulous hooked rugs, hooked dolls, and textile pieces. She is a whiz at a sewing machine, and almost anything else she puts her hands on. She just started her etsy site, the photos of her work don't do the pieces justice. Stop by, you won't be disappointed. Ask her about her hand hooked kitties, they are amazing.

Some days...
...I just feel like there is so much to experience, so much art to create, so many new techniques to explore,,,, so little time.... I am envious of other's time. Why do they seemingly have so much of it? Why do I have so little time,,,,, well, I know the answer,,,,My creative time is at night after the day winds down,,, and the weekends, after a 40 hour a week job. Why do we americans work so many hours? There is no time for the special things we need to do to cultivate our spirits. I know,,, I know,,,, I make the time,,, but still, there should be more free time, to just be,,, to just live,,, and to just create.....
some days....

Working on new paintings and the feel of fall is near...
I love this time of year, just when the weather starts to change. I know I am early, but I just can't help myself! I made these paintings with the feeling that fall is near. The painting on the left is called, "I found Mine". Remember when you were little, (or big) and looked high and low for the perfect pumpkin? Well, this is Penny, and she just found hers! She is in my shop now.
The painting on the right will be in my shop soon, I haven't named her yet.

Imagine
"Imagine"
I created this work on 11 x 14 inch plywood. I used acrylic paint, oil pastel, graphite, and sealed it with a light gloss archival spray. There is a lot going on in this painting and I will leave it to the observer to translate. I used my hands and fingers to create the background. Then I used brushes for the finishing touches. This one is for sale, 75.00 + 10.00 shipping.

Secret of My Bird Friend
8 x 10 inch gallery wrapped canvas ~ sold
It's a Monday and pretty slow around here. I cleaned my studio yesterday, got my submission for Softies ready, got some art ready for the August art show at Sharon's, cleaned house, laundry, you know all the usual stuff. I get a lot of comments over on flickr of my Jesse inspired art. I wonder if I should sell some of those. The ones I have posted here so far are my favorites, so I'm not parting with them any time soon but I do have another one in the works. I'll post it very soon.
Have a good Monday!
