This is the best place to make art

I have a studio outside my home attached to my garage. While I love my studio, it separates me from my home life. When I create art with acrylics, working in my studio is better, so I don't get paint all over everything. I can work inside my home with watercolors, I like that, I am involved,,,I am not separated as I am in my studio,,, and even my kitty likes to watch. This is the best place to create art!
p.s. see that little pill holder? I use it to put my watercolor paints in. It Keeps the paint moist while giving it a reservoir to keep paint in, and I can travel with it where ever I go.

Aceo's are available

I have been slowly getting back into creating some art for sale. I will still work in my art journal as I challenge myself to create art to sell as well. I am offering some aceo's in my shop now.

Abundance

"Abundance". An extremely plentiful or over sufficient supply. This is what I am feeling today. I am so blessed and I am so lucky! Thank you.

Reconnecting

Here is another page from my journal. The journal measures 5 x7 and this painting is small. It is created mostly by watercolor and Pan Pastels. As I revisit this page I am reminded of old love, new love, and the possibility of finding ourselves once again.

Journal page

Created in a small journal. I am working in this journal with one of my artist friends, Syd. We have been working in it since last year. I have one of hers as well. I always think the project will go by very fast, and life gets in the way, and we are still working in them. I like that though, no time constraints, just doing what feels right.

I have been working in my watercolor journal again. These pages were made with watercolor, graphite, and some Pan Pastels. It's nice to get back into my journals but I long for texture and depth.  The second submission is influenced by an exhibit of "Carnival" that I saw at the Burke museum over the weekend.  I love masks.  Perhaps I have been hiding behind one all of this year.  Recovering, exploring, and finding myself once again.. xo...

I dream in colour

This moment is the start to all my other moments, I chose to dream in colour, I chose to think "big" bigger than myself, and I chose to offer a smile to the stranger on the street corner.

Not always about color

If you have been following my work for a while you know how much I love color. Bright colors! Well today was different. I created this piece from a song I was listening to by George Strait called "Check yes or no". It's a really sweet song, you should hear it, if you haven't already. Anyway, I was compelled today to show this piece in black and white. I am shaking up my world a little bit at a time and it feels great! Let me know what you think of the black and white version.

New journal page

"I can escape for a few days but it doesn't stop me from thinking of you"

I was able to make some journal pages while traveling this week. It was so good to get away from home and have some relaxing time to myself.

Untitled

I am starting to work in my journal again. Picking up the paint brush after a long period of time isn't easy. This journal is a little bigger than my travel journal. I am enjoying the size of this one.

Taking the test

My friend Mark, encouraged me to take the Riso-Hudson Enneagram Type Indicator test. It is a great tool that helps understand different personality types. You can take a free version of this test on their site. I feel like I am a seven, and my friend feels that I am an eight. I took the test again today, and I rated a high number two. So, I wonder if I would test differently depending on my mood for that day? I think I am a number seven with a clear pattern for nurturing and helping, which really comes out when people get to know me.

New art in my travel journal

A lot of my art has been centering around water themes lately. I guess you can see why. I have been enjoying this wonderful mild summer in Seattle. I want to get out on the water more this summer. It's already August, I can't believe it! I hope you are enjoying your summer too.

Kayaking the Puget Sound

Last night was a lovely night on the sound. The weather was perfect, near 80's at sunset, and the water conditions were calm. It was great. My friend Jim and I kayaked from the Ballard Locks to Golden Gardens in Seattle. When the weather is nice in Seattle, we have to get outdoors and do as much as we can.
I found out I get a little seasick on these trips, so I am going to be looking into motion sickness remedies!

Floating over Coffee Pot Drive

I have fond memories of Coffee Pot Drive. It is in Florida, in St. Petersburg. I wish I could go back someday, but for now,,,, I will just float over "Coffee Pot Drive".

Launching

I am at a great time in my life.  I feel like I am diving in and going for it!  It is a great time to experience everything you can, and be fearless!

Botany shoot

These were taken at my photography meetup group at the University of Washington last week. It was really wonderful to see a wide variety of tropical plants. I am still learning how to take good photographs, I may need help from a better camera. These photos were some of my favorites.

My kayaking class

My kayak

I took my first kayaking class on Wednesday. It was an amazing day on the water. It was about 80 degrees, (nice for Seattle). I had so much fun!  I can't wait to go back again!

A perfect Seattle day, July 2nd!

It was a fantastic day in SUNNY Seattle! Everyone was out enjoying the beautiful weather, at thriving Pikes Place Market, and I was out with my camera! It couldn't have been a more magical day!
