Some finished candlesticks

I have been busy painting these wooden candlesticks. I will have them available at Artfest. I was hoping to make a few more but they are tedious to paint, and I have run out of steam. I finished spraying them with archival gloss finishing spray this week.
I am also still busy with learning some Photoshop Element tricks. I was able to make this collage in Photoshop (1st photograph) last night, I really like the way I can change the size of the photos and move them around in the frame. If you know of any photoshop tricks you think I would like to explore send me a note, I love learning new things!

Getting ready for Artfest

I am starting to think of Artfest and all the work I have to do before the big event. My very supportive boyfriend and I cut the torsos this weekend. It is exciting to see all of them all at once. I even bought a new Craftsman saber saw for the event! I decided to get an early start on the sawing since it was a nice warm sunny day in Seattle.

Cherry

Cherry
As they were driving down the familiar road in their neighborhood, she noticed the beautiful spring blossoms on the tree lined street. Some blossoms were white on trees and others were a beautiful dark pink. "How can you tell which ones are cherry blossoms she asked"? Her sweet boyfriend who sat next to her in the car said "the cherry trees have horizontal lines on their trunks".

Exquisite corpse, another one

I ran out of 4 x 4 canvases but I was able to complete another one. I think if I had three more canvases my series would be complete. To read more about Exquiste corpse go here. This is the idea that was my inspiration for these little canvases.

Lollipop

Lolipop
Sometimes I document my progress on my paintings. I wish I had done that with this painting. She started out with just a straight body and was holding a little tree in her hand. Then I painted a bathing suit bottom on her,,, then it didn't seem right to be holding a tree,,,so I thought of a lollipop instead. From there I decided she needed a bathing suit top,,,,and some water around her to show she is at the beach with her inner tube. (Sort of an evil faced inner tube, don't ya think?):) I never know where my paintings will take me, they sort of evolve on their own.

Work in progress

So, after painting some more candlesticks, I needed a change of pace and started this painting. I sort of like the unfinished look, hmmm, I wonder where this painting will take me. I never have a pre-formed thought of what I will paint when I get started. I have a general idea, but then I let the painting come through me and speak for itself. More to come later.

And here are some more...

I finished a couple more this week. I really like how they are turning out. The difficult part for me is that they are tedious to paint. So,, for now I will change gears and make another painting.
