"Total" Illustration Friday

This weeks theme for Illustration Friday is "Total". The idea that comes to my mind first, is how "total", "complete" one feels when one is in love. I'm still looking for my soulmate.

Bird King in the Neighborhood

I made this painting last year and I am finally able to part with it. I am selling it here

I sell my art for very reasonable prices on etsy. I would rather move my art than have it sit around in my studio for a long time. I try to create a piece every day, so I am always eager to let go. My style changes from time to time, but there will always be "Bird Kings" and "Neighborhoods".

Bird man

Different than my usual bright colors, I am really liking titanium white, titan buff, naples yellow hue, and raw sienna. I just bought some more from Dick Blick and you will be seeing more earth tone creations from me.

"Communication"

People always ask me, why did you draw this, paint this? What are your thoughts? I wish I could say that I carefully planned each painting out, but that never happens. I sometimes have a direction that I want to go but that changes the minute I start the painting. For instance, I knew the colors I wanted to create in this piece, and I thought I would make my houses. But after the background paint went on, I immediatly drew "souls". (as I call them),,,,,,and why four of them? I don't know, they just seem to fit on the painting better that way.

So,,, then I think why did I paint these instead of houses, I'm not sure, but the answer is, is that I just "go with the flow". My paintings are in control of me, I'm never in control of them. I like it that way. So, my advise is to open yourself up, see what happens!

"What a big hat you have, is it wool?"

Is it a wool hat you ask? I've always been alergic to wool. I itch like crazy when I even go near it. I've never been able to wear wool sweaters, wool socks, or even cashmere. Oh the beauty of cashmere. Nope, I'm strictly a cotton girl.
