"Alphabet" Illustration Friday

Love comes many different ways. Sometimes it's even hard to explain. Sometimes we try, but the words just never come. Sometimes like a jumbled up alphabet,,,,,but we try our best to get the words out but they just won't come.

Pearl Necklace

When I was turning 30 my special boyfriend at the time thought it was important for every woman to have a set of pearls. So, for my 30th birthday we drove to San Francisco and visited a Pearl store. (I can't remember the name, but I bet he would) The only thing they sold was Pearls. There is so much to know about them, there are so many colors and sizes. My boyfriend let me pick out a beautiful pearl strand necklace and I still have it to this day. I felt so special on my 30th birthday, I will never forget that day.

Sam Duffy

I am the proud owner of this painting by Illustrator Sam Duffy. It is approx 16 x 24 inches. It is on my living room wall. Everytime I look at it it makes me happy! She told me once that this is a painting of a lady she actually saw,,,on the way to the subway I believe. She lives in England. Click on the photo to see the large size. I hope you are well and making lots of art, Sam!

"Love you"

This is very different for me,,,, a man! Not sure where he came from but I was thinking of the love of friends when you don't even ask them something that you are thinking and they volunteer their help. I feel so happy and I made this painting as I was thinking of the kindness of friends.

A fun day

Today was a fun day with Kim and Diane. We went to a great gallery today, but I can't think of the name. Here are a couple of photos.

Design for new postcards

Vista print is offering a pretty good sale now so I thought I'd make some new designs for some new postcards. I only get 100 at a time because I get tired of my images. I always like to make something new for my business cards or postcards. I have been creating costume themed art all week, I wonder what that's about! I never think about what I'm going to make ahead of time, my art sorta makes me! Except I have to admit I had this idea a head of time for her cute little hat!

My new favoritist art doll!

OH my gosh, I am so in love with my new art doll by Syd McCutcheon. She copied the image off of one of my paintings and made this fabulous canvas doll. It is painted canvas, felt, sewn and machine stitched. He is about 13 inches tall from head to toes. The photos don't do him justice and he is still a little shy.

You can bet my new friend will be with me everywhere!

"Dress up"

"Dress up"
Created on 8 x 10 gallery wrapped canvas over muslin for texture. I like the theme of "dress up" since my favorite time of year is right around the corner. I'm thinking of fall, costumes, Halloween, and trick or treaters. When my son was little around the age 0f 3-4, he would always wear a cape. I think he must have worn a cape for about a year, along with his little green rubber boots. He would have slept in them if I would have let him. Capes and dressing up have such a special meaning for me.

Faith, Hope, Believe

I am walking down the path of my life wondering which way I will go, which way I will turn. I pause at uncertainty, I long for the whispering secrets of my soul. I turn to the heavens for answers, I listen, I pause. I look all around me listening to the silence, I wonder,,,,, when,,,,,,,, I believe. The fallen dew drops of my soul, longing, striving,,,,,aching,,,, listening to what can become,,, I linger,,,,,,,, I believe.... I will hold my breath for dreams that will come true.

Another re-work

Here is another painting I didn't like. I envisioned it for a day but when I finally painted it, it just didn't work for me.

I use gesso to cover it up.

I like this one much better. I titled it "Rub my ears"
Available, see my shop.

A smaller art piece

This is a little canvas I created using a 4 x 4 x 1.5 inch canvas covered with muslin fabric for background texture. I like the deep sides of this piece. The muslin gives it a texture while covering up the canvas texture. Most of my pieces are larger and I'm hoping to finish a 11 x 14 inch one tomorrow.

"I have to think about that"

I'm working on adding more textures in my work. I added muslin with gel medium on the canvas in this piece. I then let it dry over night before I paint my image. I also added Golden's Garnet Gel for texture in the body.

What's on your mantle?

A painting from Andrew Lewandowski, he's a Catholic priest that creates outsider art, glass art from "Glass Eye Studio", a pillow from Teesha Moore, a pottery vessel with paint brushes, and a small painting created by Kelly Moore.

I have a cute metal dog, an art doll (that I can't remember the artist's name), and a house painting from Jamie, a clock and a lamp.
