I really like how this journal lays flat, it is much easier to work in. To combat the glossy front cover, I have added some muslin and painted over it. More on that in next post.
I will be hosting a blog give-a-way of my selected postcards early next week! Stay tuned!

More pages

I have been working up some new journal pages, I hope you like them!

I like it just the way it is

I started this piece on my flight on the way home. I thought about starting with watercolors and finishing it with acrylics later. Well, now I like it the way it is. I may add more later,,,,but for now.....

Home again

One of the legs back home from Florida was 5 hours.  It can be very cramped on a small plane.  I brought my journal with me and was able to start some new pages.  It feels good to be back in the Pacific Northwest with cooler temperatures.

I am eager to start my new on-line class with Jude Hill from Spirit Cloth when I return.  I hope to accomplish putting my paintings and drawings into weaving with quilts. I can't wait to begin. I'll be sure and post as soon as I have some quilting to share!

Gifts from the sea

These are the beautiful shells I found on the beach in Clearwater Beach Florida. They are truly gifts from the sea, I wish I had brought back a few more with me.

Vacation in St Pete's

I think the most amazing thing about St Petersburg in Florida is the clouds,,,they are amazing. They bring on sudden thunder storms and you can get caught in a storm before you know it.
The beaches have sand as white as I have ever seen! This is in Clearwater which is about 30 minutes from St Petersburg.
And, of course there is always time for working in my journal!

Leaving on a jet plane...

It's a lovely time of year to go on vacation, so I am off to Florida to spend time with BF.  I take my art supplies with me where ever I go.  It is a little cramped on the plane to do any painting but I did manage to work with my artist journal, watercolors, markers and pens.  Since we are so restricted with what we can bring on airlines, I will share with you what supplies I brought.  The first most important supply is my "Peerless Water Color" tablet.  It has sheets of watercolor on paper and you simply wet it and apply on your page.  I also used Derwert Inktense pencils.  You can wet them too with your brush and apply color to your page.  I used various pencils and markers too.  All of this fit in my travel bag,,,,,perfect!

2 new journal pages

Yikes!
I ate like a girl today
Here are my latest journal pages. In the first photo "Yikes", I was experimenting with Peerless Watercolors. They are watercolors that are made on tablets of paper strips. I simply wet my brush and pick up the amount of color I want for my page, then paint it on. This booklet of watercolors is terrific to travel with. There are no paint tubes or pans of paint.  It looks like a little book with watercolor paint samples in it. I used it for the background in this journal page. The rest of the painting is done with acrylics. I added a touch of scrapbook paper for their mask and ears.

Here is another idea for your art journal. (2nd photo)   When your BF says something cute, journal about it. (and then paint a silly picture of him!)  Oh, and make sure he is wearing bunny slippers!
