Making progress

I am making progress on my sketchbook for the Sketchbook Project. I am happy with the way it is turning out (I wasn't at first). Maybe it had something to do with the fact I will never see it again. It will however, travel all across the US for many to enjoy. I like that part. A piece of me traveling all over, perhaps to places I have never been or seen, mysterious places unknown.
See that little tree horned guy up in the upper right? I made him for
Gustavo Aimar's 3 x 3 project. He looked so cute, I attached him by staple to the page. More on that a little later.

From my archives

I've been really busy getting my son ready for college so I have been a little distracted lately. Here is one of my pages from my journal that was published in "1000 Artist Journal Pages".
I'll get back to making art in no time, I'm just sort of off balance right now.
See you soon.

Sketchbook page

I finished another page in my sketchbook recently. I have about 4 more pages to go, and I need to finish the covers as well.

Buttons

I collect buttons. I purchase ones that fit my style. Some of these are beads. I made some of them and some of them are given to me by kind friends who know I love buttons.

My friend Sharon got these for me. They are rubbery, love that!

I made these.

These are from an etsy seller from Mexico.

...and my friend Mary gave these to me, aren't they perfect!

...and see those silver thingys in the bottom right hand side, I took a pmc class with my friend Kim and made those.

Feeling right at home

As promised, here are some photos of my finished rug hooking projects. They really seem to come to life once they are stuffed.

The smallest one, the one with the girl face now resides among my other friendlies most of which I have collected from my artist friend Mary Stanley.

I think she feels right at home in good company, don't you?

A sneak peek at my sketchbook

I still have some more pages to finish, but I thought you'd like a peak at what I've finished so far.

A new hooked face

I finished hooking this piece today. See how all the loops aren't quite even? After I press and steam them, they will all lay smoothly together. After all the pressing is done, I'll make a backing and stuff it as a little pillow. I'm thinking of making this image a little larger for my next project.

This pulls at my heart

"Typically, when elephants are in captivity, they're under a lot of stress," Blais said. "Their entire life is abnormal; it's unnatural, and that can often lead to aggression.

"Some will resign themselves and just kind of end up in this blank space, and others will act out, just venting their frustrations, but it's because of what captivity offers or what captivity doesn't offer them."

Here is the complete article.

New hooked pillow

Remember this from a couple of posts ago?

I finished it, well almost finished it, last night. I still need to put a backing on it, steam and iron it and stuff it for a pillow.
"We all have angels" Rug hooked pillow, approx 12 x 10 inches. Made of wool strips and will be stuffed with polyfil.

Large journal project

I thought I'd share some photos of my large journal project. I tired to capture some photos in my studio so you could get a feel for how big it looks.

You can see it in various stages.

I still have so many more pages to finish.

Measures approx 8" x 24"
